Some themes

zombie biotech theme
sci-fi space theme
colonizing Mars theme
post apocolyptic theme
zelda type fantasy like theme
city underwater type theme
modern day normal society type theme (just like Grand Theft Auto is set in a modern day normal society)
theme based on public domain works (I could even copy the popular existing story from a professional writer exactly and add educational content to it)
fan fiction based on existing fictional universes (however you have to be a little more careful about copyright issues here)
time machine theme (time travelers): any type of historical theme with some of the technologically enabled characters from the future using a time machine to go to this historical setting and solve problems there. Note that you could also do a historical or fantasy setting if the setting is actually in a digital world which maybe some of the characters can enter in and out of and some of the characters cannot (they probably don't even know they are in a digital world).
