When the next rotation student performs this experiment, they might not
even need to do much work with mice. Bart has some old and young mice
that were immunized with live attenuated influenza PR8.
5-6 aged naive mice (about a year and 2 months old)
6-7 aged infected mice (about a year and 2 months old)
10 young naive mice (about 6-8 weeks old)
10 young infected (about 6-8 weeks old)
Mice bled 0, 14, 28, and 40 days after infection
Bart suggests running arrays to look at both the IgG and IgA.
I actually wish that these old mice were older, but maybe we could still
see something. Kathy commented that these mice are plenty old.

I talked to Zbig and Phil and it sounds like Zbig will perform the
experiment with Bart's sera.
Phil mentioned something about batch 295 or 298 for the available slides.
We ended up using 324 which were 10K slides (295 didn't exist, and 298
was actually a 5K slide)
4 replicates per group
Two groups: (6-7 aged infected mice (about a year and 2 months old)) and
10 young infected (about 6-8 weeks old)
- Exp 800-189
- Group 6 Aged PR8 1*10^4 pfu/dose
- Group 2 Young PR8 1*10^4 pfu/dose
really like to have this done. Phil mentioned that a Western blot can be
done, but Bart said this is not very quantitative and there are other
ways. He thinks he may have done an endpoint ELISA. A "KSGOF" could also
be done (I don't know what this is).
