azim58 - How many spots can I fit onto one nitrocellulose slide with a
certain spacing?

Dimensions of Nitrocellulose Slide:

From Johnny's estimates after looking at what is possible on the printing
program we could fit about 1,200 spots on an array with 800 um spacing
(actually later we found we could do 500 um spacing)

Width of nitrocellulose slide: 21 mm
Length of nitrocellulose slide: 51 mm

Desired Spacing of Spots: 800 um
Distance from left width edge to start printing:
Distance from right width edge to stop printing:
Distance from top length edge to start printing:
Distance from bottom length edge to stop printing:

Print area width: 21-L1-L2
Print area length: 51-L1-L2

How many columns fit in one row?
width/spacing

How many rows fit on the slide?
length/spacing

Total # spots = rows*columns
(spots per slide)

How many slides would be needed to print a typical library?
Library complexity: 1*10^6
1*10^6/(spots per slide)

How many 384 well plates would be needed to print a library?
1*10^6/384 = 2604
