Comments and notes after meeting

o I should try to obtain another phage library vector.
o The SMC1fs lysate work looks good.
o There were times during the presentation when I felt that I was
thinking about whether I was presenting well or what the audience was
thinking of me rather than focusing on what I should have been
focusing on which is to make an interesting and informative
presentation that the audience can enjoy.
o I should have explained the basic experiment I want to do with
age associated stem cell autoimmunity better. I want to take effector
cells from old mice and young mice and see if the effector cells from
old mice recognize hematopoietic stem cells better
o I really should have explained one particular figure better (the
figure in which they transfer old cells or young cells into old or
young mice). I need to understand what the delta marker is better.
Also in general, whenever there is a figure in which several
conditions are mixed or alternated, I should make sure that this
really makes sense to me and maybe plan out what I want to say
clearly.

o Stephen would rather pursue more of a direct antibody approach
rather than focusing too much on the phage.

o He mentioned that he performed LDH assays in which cytoplasm
protein was released from the cells.
o Jacobs mentioned an interesting and simple way of testing the age
associated autoimmunity hypothesis. He said why not just vaccinate
the mice against telomerase, wound them, and see if there is a
difference compared to the controls.
