desired features of file browser 10-31-2014d1130 -It should be possible to search files; 11-21-2014d2140 -It should be possible to open files with native applications without downloading first; 11-21-2014d2140 -It should have user controls with read and write permissions; 11-21-2014d2141 -the place where the online file browser is hosted should have ftp or webdav access so that files there can be synced with other computers -should be able to upload whole folders email to Tonido; 10-31-2014d1130 { Hi Tonido Representative, I recently renewed my Tonido account for the year. My ultimate goal would be able to refer to filepaths in my wiki, and allow these filepaths to be accessible by anyone with the username and password. At first, I thought Tonido could help me reach this goal, but I find the online file browser interface for tonido quite limited. For example, a visitor cannot upload an entire folder, just individual files. Also, one cannot directly open a file from the web browser to edit it. Instead, one would have to download the file, edit it, delete the original, and upload the new file. Also, I cannot quickly right click on any file and get the full url filepath. Tonido does offer webdav, and so I thought there must be a nice webdav client that will meet all my needs. However, I find many of these webdav clients to be quite glitchy or they don't provide the features I am looking for. I don't like solutions like Dropbox or Box because they don't provide full filepaths when you share files. The filepaths have random letters and numbers to protect your information I guess (I don't like it). Basically, I am looking for the following features: -allow control of whether users can view or edit in directories -allow users to upload whole folders (or individual files of course) -allow users to quickly get the full file path url of any directory or file -allow users to take any file path url and navigate to that location -allow files to be opened and edited with native applications(rather than downloaded, edited, and reuploaded) The best software (WebDav client) I have found so far is CrossFTP, but I don't like how I can't just enter a new url to quickly navigate to a new location. I have to connect to a location (server), and then click around and navigate from there. Anyway, do you have any suggestions about how I can meet my goals (basically a full windows like file browser with full url internet addresses with permission control)? Perhaps the best solution for me is to pay for a webhost with lots of storage, put my files on the webhost, and put an online file manager onto the webhost.
