Overall my experience with the HP Slate 500 was very good. The pen was
quite responsive, and I enjoyed the benefits of using a full Windows 7
operating system. However, there were some drawbacks as well. The screen
size was fairly small, the screen has glare unlike paper or a screen like
that found on the Amazon Kindle, bootup times and background operations
are more irritating than that found on the iPad/iPhone or Android
devices, and the specs of the device were too low to play high def videos
or the OnLive gaming service smoothly. After the initial period of using
the device, I found that I never touched it. I look forward to possible
future devices that have many of the benefits of the HP Slate 500, but
also improve upon it's faults. I know that there are more expensive
higher end slates that exist right now that have better specs, but these
devices would still suffer from the glare traditionally encountered with
any LCD screen, particularly screens which lie on a table facing directly
towards overhead lights.
