azim58 - Remoting to ASU computers Here are instructions to remote control ASU computers from outside from Kevin. Use the VPN software that ASU provides (http://bits.biodesign.asu.edu/security/2009/03/got-vpn/) then use Remote Desktop. The name of your machine is the same as the ASU Property ID. (This software doesn't seem to install on my Windows 7 laptop.) BIO<property control number>.dhcp.asu.edu =========================================================================== I think the property number of my workdesk computer is 4025989 so I think the name of my machine would be BIO4025989.dhcp.asu.edu =========================================================================== Attempts to use Cisco anyconnect with linux Pre 4-27-13 -Successful attempt to use Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client with Linux (Ubuntu) see original e-mail here https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?shva=1#label/Computer+Stuff/13e37edbd5930 43e First go to: https://sslvpn.asu.edu/+CSCOE+/portal.html Then follow these directions to install the actual file. 1)First of all, download the file that you are going to install e.g. "name_of_file.sh" and save it in your Desktop 2)Secondly open the Terminal from Menu Accessories Terminal 3)Now type cd ~/Desktop (With this command we change the default directory "/" to "/Desktop") 4)Then type chmod +x name_of_file.sh to make your file executable. 5)Then type sh ./name_of_file.sh to execute the file.
