++ HP Split X2 HP Split 13 x2 PC 13-m010dx Product No E0W59UA#ABA and Serial No 5CD3301HXL does hp split x2 have ambient light sensor -yes it does. . so it can adjust the screen brightness automatically. -tried to update to windows 8.1 11-12-13 --received the following error message ---"C:\Users\kurtw_000\Documents\kurt\storage\DR\2013\11-16-13\windows 8d1 upgrade error message\2013-11-12 20.43.30.jpg" Some records for device (some items/events) -I completely reset my hp split x2 by resintalling the os, and then doing updates and reinstalling software. I wanted to do this to improve responsiveness, get rid of annoying startup message from "MagicKey" or something, and get rid of memory reference error when shutting down. These problems seem to be solved now. --[preparation to reset hp split x2 laptop 04-12-2015d1025] -there was only about 10 GB left free on the C drive. I used Windirstat to analyze the disk usage and deleted many programs and files. Now there is about 60 GB free. 3-19-15 -uninstalled Regcure (ex?) pro after a machine voice woke me up in the middle of the night around 4am. I thought I had already uninstalled this software before, but maybe not. 2-12-15 -called HP tech phone number 1-800-474-6836 using google voice hangouts. They will send a box to my parents' address. They want the laptop shipped in that box without the charger (or the battery maybe?). Order #BFFT5631-01. Tried to ship device with Correos (they wouldn't ship), then Seur (they wouldn't ship), and then DHL (finally they would ship). They required my passport which I didn't have. I emailed it to them later. The price of the shipping was 95.00 euros and HP is charging me 162.25 dollars for the repair (ouch). -contacted an HP email address to repair HP Split X2 laptop; 11-12-2014d2020 --HHOCustomerDelivery@hp.com -- { Hi HP representative, I bought an HP Split X2 (Product No E0W59UA#ABA and Serial No 5CD3301HXL) in America. Now this laptop has major problems and the fan gets really loud. I need to pay to have this fan repaired. However, I am currently living in Madrid Spain. Could you help put me in contact with someone who can help me get my HP Split X2 fan repaired in Spain? Note that I expect to pay for the repair since I think the device is no longer covered by the warranty. Thanks for any help and information you can offer me! Best, Kurt } -rosetta stone was giving a 4111 error. I installed regcure pro to fix this problem. This software did not fix the problem! They also called me and were trying to get me to pay $200 to have their technicians fix other problems on the computer. Kind of annoying. I used online chat with Rosetta Stone and they fixed the problem!! They remotely controlled my computer. They added Rosetta Stone stuff as exceptions in Windows Firewall/Windows Defender. Then they reinstalled the language learning level. Then everything worked. 8-23-14 -audio stopped working after updating to windows 8.1 around 6-8-14 --I posted to this forum thread to find a solution to the problem: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-PC-Sound-and-Audio/Windows-8-1-update-No-Audio/m-p/3234653/highlight/false#M44191 ---following the instructions there (even though my model number did not exactly match) got my sound working again -fan started to sound louder, and I think I started to notice this after I dropped it one time. 4-30-14
